Whatever vehicle you’re using in the ACT you must know and follow the road rules. These rules may change so it’s your responsibility to keep aware of any changes.

Understanding the ACT road rules helps you:

  • avoid infringements (fines) and penalties for offences (demerit points on your licence)
  • avoid causing an accident
  • to keep ACT roads safe.

Read the ACT Road Rules Handbook [PDF 5.5 MB] [DOCX 4.7 MB].

The handbook provides guidance based on the Road Transport (Road Rules) Regulation 2017.
