Before you extend or renovate a property, you often need access to building files.

You can apply for building files if you are:

  • the owner of the block
  • an individual, such as a builder, authorised with a letter of consent by the owner of the block.

Apply for a building file search

You can either apply online or in person.

Apply online

  1. Use the Building file search application form.
  2. The team will email you with the prescribed fee and a link for payment.

Fees are determined based on the type on whether the information is residential or commercial in nature.

Apply in person

  1. Visit the Mitchell Building Services Centre
  2. Bring photographic ID if you are the block owner, or a letter of consent from the owner
  3. Pay the fee. Fees are determined based on the size of documents you’re requesting.
