Electricity and gas retailer and distribution regulation

The Australian Energy Regulator and the Independent Competition and Regulatory Commission regulate electricity and gas retailers operating in the ACT.

This includes Evoenergy, which owns and operates the electricity and gas distribution network.

The ACT Government supports households, businesses and community groups to reduce energy use and carbon emissions, and to increase our community’s resilience to climate change.

Building conveyancing enquiries

Buyers can request information about a property such as whether there was any unapproved building work or whether the property was an ex-government house.

You can also request:

  • copies of certificates of occupancy
  • survey certificates
  • approved building plans
  • any notices issued in relation to the property.

Energy efficiency ratings

If you’re about to sell a property you live in or that has been occupied or rented to tenants, you need to disclose the property’s current level of energy performance to prospective purchasers.

The Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NATHERS) provides the energy efficiency requirements for residential properties.

You will need to employ an accredited energy assessor to provide you with an EER statement.

Submit an energy efficiency rating statement

Once the property is assessed, the assessor must submit a copy of the rating and detail the methodology they used to Access Canberra.
