Volunteer parking permits
Volunteer parking permits help prevent volunteers from incurring fees while they’re working in the community.
Only community organisations can apply for permits for their volunteers. Individual volunteers can’t apply.
The permits are only valid in ACT Government operated car parks. They aren’t valid for use in privately owned and operated car parks.
There are 2 types of volunteer parking permits:
- short stay
- location specific.
There is no fee for volunteer parking permits.
Short stay volunteer parking
This permit allows the holder to park in an ACT Government car park, whether ticketed or metered, for free.
Volunteers can only park in the space for the posted time limit, or for a maximum of 2 hours in longer stay car parks.
The permit will specify that it is a short stay permit.
Location specific volunteer parking
Location specific parking permits are for use in ACT Government ticketed car parks only.
You must nominate which car park you want the permit for.
Volunteers can then park in that car park for free, for an unlimited time.
The permit will display the location and will only be eligible in the stated car park.
