If you’re getting married outside of Australia, you may need a single status certificate as proof of your relationship status.

A single status certificate is an official document issued by the marriage registry of each state and territory.

You can request a single status certificate for the ACT that covers a period of your choosing, if you have not been married during a specific time.

All requests for certificates are assessed against the Births, Deaths and Marriages Access Policy [PDF 392KB].

Access Canberra only issues single status certificates for marriages registered in the ACT.
