You can usually only request vehicle registration records if you are the registered operator or a joint operator of the vehicle, or if you have authority to do so.

Vehicle registration status

You can immediately check the registration status of a vehicle, as well as some non-identifying information, by entering a plate number on our online form.

Vehicle registration certificates

When you renew your vehicle registration, a registration certificate is posted to your nominated address. This can take up to 21 days.

If you have not received your registration certificate, contact us on 13 22 81 to update and verify your postal address details and arrange for a reprint of the certificate.

If you need to replace your registration certificate you can request a new one online via this link: Request a new certificate. Please note that there is a fee for the issue of a replacement certificate.

Statement of vehicle registration

A statement of vehicle registration details is an official record confirming specific details about a vehicle. This can include information about the registered operator/s, and their date of birth, where they live, how long the vehicle has been registered in their name, and any duty paid for the vehicle.

Access Canberra (the Road Transport Authority) will only release statement of vehicle registration records to you, someone you authorise or someone authorised by law.

You can request a statement of registration details:
